Clearing Clutter to Beat the Winter Blues

In the winter months, when days are short and temperatures are cold, it can be a particularly hard for people to feel inspired and energized. At nest +co, we believe that letting go is a large part of inspiring design and is our overarching theme for the month of January. Heirloom and one-of-a-kind pieces aside, it may be time to let go of tired furniture and décor you've been holding on to for years. Right now in our studio, we are culling old samples, discontinued fabrics, and looks we just don't vibe with anymore.

The start of 2021 is the perfect opportunity to de-clutter your home and your life. Tossing knickknacks that are dated or taking up valuable space can give you the same cathartic rush as deleting a bunch of "friends" you haven't interacted with in years on social media. Make room in your life for things that are important to you and bring you joy. Your home, and the items in it, reflects who you are and it is important to surround yourself with pieces that you value. Equally as important is curating what you keep.

Coco Chanel said, "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off."

The same holds true for accessorizing and decluttering. Look at your bookshelf, coffee table or mantel and take (at least) one thing out.

Now, doesn't that feel better?
